Does Meditation Work

All of us have been hearing, that meditation is the way of calming our minds and guide ourself in the right path. May be lot of us had searched this topic in the web or asked the people who have been involved in meditation practice. Have you or me got the answer to the question “Does Meditation Work?” Lets try to find the answer.

Many research have been conducted around the world regarding this topic of Meditation. Lots of the research say that one has to find it out themselves by meditating. The most discussed matter "How long does it take for meditation to work?”  ALL of us want to know how long does it actually take meditation to show it's result. We want to know the answer before we actually start meditating. It's not like we start this morning and we will have gained the the control over our minds later at night or next morning. Its an ongoing process. The more you meditate, the more you will learn from it. So we cant tell if you will see the results in a day or a month. Wht you can do is start meditating and take ur time. Just dive into your thoughts and have control over them with time.

Does meditation really help with anxiety? When a person starting taking long deep breaths, vagus nerve gets activated which actually helps is bringing down the heart rate and calming an anxious person. Meditation which is practiced with a lot of focus and concentration, also diverts the mind from being anxious towards the breathing process. Meditation can also reduce the negativity inside us and lead to a clear vision of the things that trigger the anxiety. Having a clear mind helps a person in tackling the next episode of a panic attack. So when are you starting your meditation journey?

Going through the process of meditation many of us also get confused in the concept of "Can meditation be dangerous?" With my research in the internet and data collection from various sources and reviews, it is also concluded that meditation practice also leads to negative such as anxiety, depressionand stress about 8% of individuals. They encountered experiences like hallucinations. The Buddhist Dharmatrāta Meditation Scripture, which is ancient meditation manuals stated that the mind can experience restlessness, unstable or confused if meditation is not carried out properly.

With all these topics discussed, you must be curious regarding"What meditation does for the brain?" while meditation is linked with the gray matter in the hippocampus and frontmost part of the brain. All the positive emotions, long term emotional stability and greater attention improves with increase in grey matter.

"What happens to your brain when you meditate?" When we practice meditation again and again, all our memory, capability of learning and doing things, sharp attention and shelf awareness gradually increases. Our brain become more responsive , positive and helps in reduction of unnecessary emotional activity including anxiety, stress and depression.

Many people came up with the query"Why do I cry after meditation?" To some people it is common act or response, to cry after Meditation. Not just after Meditation many people even cry during Meditation. This can be taken as a release of toxic matter from our mind including trauma, stress, sadness, or guilt. Crying is considered to be the best and most common way of releasing emotional stress and flush of bad matter.
