The northernmost of Japan's major islands, Hokkaido, is famous for its volcanoes, natural hot springs (onsen), and ski resorts. Mount Asahi, a steaming volcanic peak, is located in the rugged Daisetsuzan National Park. Shikotsu-Tya National Park is home to caldera reservoirs, geothermal pools, and Mount Ytei, a Mount Fuji clone. Rusutsu, Furano, and Niseko are all famous ski resorts.
It is a wonderful travel destination, filled with places that leave enduring impressions on the hearts and minds of visitors. If you love snow, this place is for you. Every year, it receives a significant amount of snow.
Each of Hokkaido's four seasons has its own distinct characteristics, the summer and winter landscapes are the most beautiful. As a result, summer and winter are peak tourism seasons, resulting in higher air ticket and accommodation prices, so planning ahead is highly advised.
I'll present some of the best places to visit in Hokkaido, these are must-see tourist attractions in Hokkaido!
Sapporo
Sapporo, Hokkaido's capital, is situated on the west side of the island in the Moto district, about 50 kilometers from the New Chitose Airport. It is Japan's fifth-largest district.
When most people think of Japan, they have images of Tokyo's overcrowding. In Sapporo, things are really different. The island is densely forested. Many Japanese people prefer Sapporo as the best travel destination, which receives millions of tourists every year. Summer is the busiest season.
Since 1891, Sapporo has been producing beer. You can take a tour of the building if you visit Sapporo. It's one of those attractions that everybody loves to visit.
Yuki Matsuri, Sapporo's snow festival, is very popular. Every year in the month of February, it takes place for one week. Every year, it gets bigger. It began with a pair of snow sculptures and has since expanded into a major event with several locations. The international snow sculpture exhibition attracts a large number of visitors.
Furano & Biei
Biei, a town known for its vast open fields and picturesque scenery, has been featured in many books and films and is a dream destination for many Japanese. Biei is known for its world-class cheeses, milk drinks, and delectable curries, among other items.
Furano is known for its lavender fields, including Farm Tomita, which has views of Mount Tokachi. Poppies, lilies, and sunflowers grow in abundance in the Nakafurano forest, in addition to lavender. In the winter, the Furano Ski Resort's two linking peaks host skiing and snowboarding activities. One of the resort's gondolas, the Furano Ropeway, offers panoramic views of the gorge.
Asahikawa
Asahikawa is a major city on this island which is renowned for its natural and urban beauty. It is well-known among tourists for its sightseeing, such as the Asahiyama Zoo, and winter skiing and snowboarding resorts.
Seasonal flowers, herbs, and vegetables are grown in the flower bed of the “Kitakami Garden” adjacent to Asahikawa station, and you are welcome to experience plant appreciation.
Noboribetsu
The most well-known hot spring resort in Japan is Noboribetsu Onsen. In the stunning Jigokudani or "Hell Valley" just above the resort area, a vast amount of Noboribetsu's many varieties of hot spring water surfaces. Shikotsu-Toya National Park has Noboribetsu.
You will discover the classic touch of Noboribetsu, which includes woodland baths and a sulfur-scented footbath.
In addition to Otanuma, which made a gourd, and Caldera Lake “Kuttara Lake,” which boasts the highest level of openness in the world, Noboribetsu bear farm is one of famous bear farm in the world.
Otaru
Old buildings from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, such as stone-built factories, the old housing facility for herring fishermen, shrines, churches, and banks, are particularly popular in Otaru.

The Otaru Canal, which was completed in 1923, is one of the main attractions. This small stretch of canal, which is now unused, is lined with crowded cafes and recreated warehouses.
Hakodate
Hakodate is a Japanese city and port in the Oshima Subprefecture of Hokkaido. It is the administrative center of the Oshima Subprefecture. Hakodate was the first city in Japan to open its port to international trade in 1854 as a result of the Kanagawa Convention, and it was once the most important port in northern Japan.
The Motomachi district, with its cluster of churches, the bay area, with the Kanemori Red Brick Warehouses, and Goryokaku Park, with its historic ruins, are all popular tourist destinations. The Hakodate Morning Market is also well-known for its fresh seafood bowls and shopping. In the winter, the sight of wild monkeys bathing in the hot springs is a sight to behold.
Akan
Akan was a town in Hokkaido, Japan, located in the Akan District of the Kushiro Subprefecture. The name is derived from an Ainu word that means "unchanging" or "eternal."Onetto, Kussharo Lake, and Mashuho Lake are among the many lakes and observation decks that represent the beauty of nature. It's also a nice place to stop if you're passing through the city. Lake Akan is home to the spherical marimo.
